Friends of Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge is an organization of citizen volunteers which works to support the Refuge. On this website, you can discover our many activities and the ways in which we help the Refuge. You will also discover the benefits that accrue to Friends members in doing this work. We invite you!
Visit the Blue Heron Trails
There is always something to see at the Refuge. Come to Blue Heron Trails and be surrounded by the songs of Redwing Blackbirds and Meadow Larks. Keep your eyes open for all sorts of wildlife. A bird/animal list is available for download at Wildlife List and Blue Heron Trails is open free, 7 days a week.
There are occasional docent led walks (fall through spring) and staff led kayak trips on the lakes (summer). These events take place in areas that are not normally open to the public.
